Dude.

I'm no longer a student. (Until grad school.)
My worldview is somewhat skewed by this.
Is "student" a state of mind?

FUCKING PARTISANSHIP

This whole thing disgusts the shit out of me. EVERYONE. HOLY FUCKING HELL, PUT YOUR SHIT BEHIND YOU AND DO WHAT'S RIGHT.
The honeymoon's over, obviously, and I never expected it to last longer than a day, but seriously. This is getting ridiculous. The stimulus package passed without a SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTE. If that doesn't smack of partisanship...

I know, bla bla bla politics depressing and boring but seriously, whenever I think about all the shit that's flying around now - all of the greed of the predatory lenders (and they're still demanding bonuses, I'm so angry I see spots) and the staunch adherence to party ideology of the politicians, I'm in danger of getting obsessed. The best way not to be is to bitch early and stop watching the news.

Inauguration 09 Pictures

They're really blurry. We had nosebleed seats. (But they were free!)

Michelle:
I love her. I think she's such a good role model. We took hundreds of pictures hoping some would come out. These were the best I could find. When you zoom in that far, it's hard to keep them from blurring.

Jill Biden and her granddaughters:
It's a crappy picture. But it was literally the only one that wasn't a smear of color.

Demi (Dummy) Lovato:
For some reason I only took pictures of her on the Jumbo-Tron. She was dancing around too much to really manage a coherent photograph.

And dear Miley. You can't make out her features so I included a Jumbo-Tron picture just to verify. ;)
I don't like Miley. Or Dummy Lovato. But even I have to admit that there was a certain Wow factor involved with being in their audience. (The music sucked and the thousands of girls in the stadium may have done irreparable damage to my auditory capabilities, but still. Wow factor.)
I liked her dress. But after the first song she changed into black skinny jeans and a shitty white t-shirt. Like what? It's a concert. For the president's children. Get yo act together.

IT'S OVER

Obama's speech was incredible. I hung on every word.
One of the things that really hit me was when he was talking about religion: "This country is made up of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus, and non-believers..." I don't think I've ever heard politicians refer to non-believers - not that I've been aware of. I'm far from a militant atheist and I like to think I'm pretty tolerant (within reasonable limits). But for some reason that really struck me. I didn't realize until I heard it that I generally feel looked-down upon for my religious beliefs (or lack thereof.) Apparently I do. I'm so glad he included that.
Anyway. That's neither here nor there.

It's OVER. It's seriously fucking OVER. And before someone decides to call me out for being idealistic, I don't mean that our problems are over. I mean that the cause and propagation of our problems is over. No more (I hope) standing by and shrugging while America burns.

Watching Bush get in the copter and fly away, now rendered a Private Citizen, was such an unbelievably cathartic moment. THANKS, ASSHOLE. GET THE FUCK OUT AND LET THE ADULTS DO THEIR THING.

I'm sad about Ted Kennedy. I hope he lives, even if he's not really long for this world anyway.

Also, apparently Bush only has Secret Service for the next ten years? Oof. Bad luck, Bush. Shouldn't have fucked up the economy so bad. God. It'll be hunting season. I, for one, will leave it alone. I'm ready to try and forget him.
